I recently bought Xara 3D 5 which came bundled with Webster 2D.

They are supposed to work together - they don't. I create an image in Webster2D and save it in X3D format but X3D doesn't recognize it.

Xara3D cannot open its own sample animations.

I've e-mailed support twice---no response in weeks of waiting.

    I feel gyped. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

and chill out a bit http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
The reason Xara3D doen't recognize the .web files is that you need a patch that you can download here:

    Download page
Under the "Other Downloads" section, under Xara3D select the "Xara plugin"

Thanks, Egg, I'll try the patch.

Re chilling out - I did tried that route, the patience thing, waiting to hear from support - felt I was quite patient. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The info with the X3D plugin says it was included with the CD, which is what I got, so it was supposedly fixed when I installed it.

Maybe you were referring to the downlod "CCDist.exe" which specifically deals with importing XAR, WEB and WMF files - I will download it but I'm surprised that I could have an outdated comctl32.dll file since I just installed XP Pro on my system.

Thanks for your help - I'll let you know if this fixes the problem. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Sorry your having such problems. Did you d/l the Xara Plugin and install it? This is the one that does the trick. Or have you installed it off your CD? You can tell if it's working because you get the file types in the Import Dialogue as shown in the attachment below:

    Hi Inchworm,

I've reread your first post and you say you save a webster image in X3D format. Does this mean you save the webster file with an X3D file extension?

The Xara information does indicate that the plug-in is to be part of the CD with Xara3D; however, I found that the version 5 CD did not automatically install the plug-in.
