I needed a rest from the skull! I happened across an image of a Star Wars TIE fighter while reading a magazine, and I realised that Xara3D could probably make a decent attempt at it, so naturally I had to prove it.

Mike
Brilliant.
How did you do the sphere? That is the bit I don't understand - unless it is visual trickery and X1 did it!
Nicely done, Mike! I like the perspective. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
You've done it again Mike. A stunning image.

Mike,
You are definently a master at X3D4/5/6 etc... You push the envelope further than anyone thought possible.
Mike, following your space theme, a very poor second.

All,
Thanks for the kind words,
Simon, the sphere was a tiny half-pixel circle in XaraX, with an enormous Rounded bevel, (135), and an extrusion of 20. The texture was made in XaraX, and applied to the sphere, and took some fiddling to get something acceptable. It isn't quite right yet, I need to skew the angled white spars and slightly curve them to make them appear straight on the sphere. Attached is the original texture I made for the sphere.
From blank screen to posted image took about 2 and a half leisurely hours.
Mike
Hee. Brilliant.
So... when do we get the Enterprise D?
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.
