Panfer suggested we should have some sort of contest. I'd like to start one (there can be others of course) based on 'Molecular Expressions'. What I'm refering to is for us create images that use microscopy images borrowed from the Molecular Expressions website. I've negotiated with the site developer that we all have permission to use his images in derivative works that we can post in the xara forums. His images are very beautiful and I believe we can create some stunning artworks with them.

More info on the agreed conditions of use can be found in this thread in the main xara forum.

I think this could be lots of fun and I really look forward to seeing what gets created.

Regards, Ross

Here's a quick effort on my part. It is a derivative work using a image copyrighted by by Michael W. Davidson and The Florida State University and is used with permission.

Eric - What a splended mess! I assume your comment "all due credits" means "It is a derivative work using a image copyrighted by by Michael W. Davidson and The Florida State University and is used with permission."

Geodd - your crystals are beautiful. It is facinating to study - and hard to figure out how you developed the pattern. It has a fractal-like quality about it.

What a start to a thread. All three are exciting.
Ross, I can't decide if I'm looking down on it or at it. Both are intriguing. Geodd, what a fantastic crystal! Eric, you have turned an acid into a fabric. Like 'em all. Wow! Neil

Here's a old pic of me (wedding day 14 years ago) combined with a zoomed view of a Moosehead beer label. If only I was so small - or better: if only the beer was so big! Moosehead is brewed here in my hometown. Of course, the zoomed image makes the final image a derivative work. It uses a image copyrighted by by Michael W. Davidson and The Florida State University and is used with permission.

This image illustrates why it is a good thing that forum users can't see one another!
