I guess I have a thing for "Underdog" products, but now one of my favs has just abandoned the other... I use Corel Graphics Suite 11 (primarily Photo-Paint and R.A.V.E.) on the Mac and have been anxiously awaiting V12. Now I see the press release and it's WINDOWS ONLY.

HUGE disappointment here. I really don't want to have to learn Photoshop... Does anybody have any info that there's a Mac version coming?

    Thanks to all...

    Dont despair!

Corel have made and have invested a lot of efforts
to bring DRAW in Mac platform since years.

Before DRAW11, Corel have the practice to launch a Mac version
    as each two versions.

    DRAW6, DRAW8, DRAW10 ... and DRAW11.

Maybe you will need to wait version 13 (sept 2005)
or maybe Corel will launch a single Mac version before.
soon or in a couple of months.

But that would surprise me much if Corel abandoning Mac platform.
    Personally, I don’t think so.

    Just wait & see.
Look, today is just the first day that Corel announces Draw Suite12.
It will be out on 10th feb.

After this date, you can probably write to Corel and ask.

I appreciate you optimism, but I got a reponse from Corel that sounds like the end of the road for DRAW for Mac.

When the Vector thing happened I read some what I thought were outlandish "conspiracy" theories about Microsoft being behind the Corel take-over... I thought it was stupid then, but now... MS just recently announced no more Mac Internet Explorer, no new Outlook, and then Corel suddenly stops making Draw for Mac... Things that make you go, "Hmmmmmm....". Coincidence? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Can't be of too much help here but I am really sorry this seems to be happening. I hope Guru is right and they will come through eventually. Your best bet it to gather as many Mac users that like CorelDraw and either petition Corel or send them emails, and I don't mean over run their servers, just send them and ASK pretty please, without being demanding (that never works to any one's advantage or creates hostility or a frigid relationship).

I have just recently started using Photoshop for most of my 'painterly' needs but Illustrator is still, IMHO, not so good. Sorry there isn't a XaraX for Mac!!

I found a couple of other choices

    Vector Works:

    Or Canvas 9:

    http://www.canvas9.com/

I looked around the web a bit and there just does not seem to be a whole lot. It's all Adobe or Corel!!

I wish you good fortune in your hunt for another vector program......

    Thanks Wolf... I appreciate it.

To anyone interested, I did post the response I got from Corel about this under "It's Offical: No CorelDRAW 12 for Mac" as a new topic.

    Thanks again...

    Mac Won't Be Back
In July 2002 CorelDRAW 11 made its debut at MacWorld. Maybe it was a last ditch effort to lure Mac users away from other popular graphics programs. It didn't work. In December 2003, with little fanfare, Corel announced that a Mac version of CorelDRAW 12 would not be produced.

Corel is, however, putting the finishing touches on the Windows edition of its popular graphics suite. CorelDRAW 12 should be ready to hit the market mid-February. Leaving Mac users stuck on version 11 is of small consequence to Corel, since 96 percent of its customers are Windows users.

Jessica Gould, Corel senior communications manager, said the company has been working hard to understand its customers' wants, needs and desires — at least when it comes to Windows-based graphics software.

"We've focused on getting to know our customer inside and out — who they are, where they work, and what they do — CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 specifically meets the needs of our customers, many of them small businesses doing their graphics in-house."
