Fantastic! You are creating very complex knots. I find the hardest part is determining which is the over and which is the under, i.e. it's easy enough to decide but very difficult to remember as your creating the effect in Xara. I like the shadow effect. You started quite a thread with your original post. Have you tried applying a different colour transparency above the original and applying eliptical transparencies to achieve a varying texture. It's quite simple and very effective.

The central transparency might be a bit to high, but you should get the idea. If you create each colour on a different layer, it's easy to select all and edit.
