Which PHP Version to use?

I have just logged into my Hosting company's website and got this message:-

Please note that PHP version 5.4 is end of life. Please update to a later version as soon as possible.

The options are Version 5.6, 7.0 or 7.1

I haven't got a clue which one to choose so I contacted the hosting company who said I should choose the latest version (7.1) as long as it is compatible with Xara WD and I would have to speak to Xara to find out.

Would anybody know the answer to this.

Do any of your Xara websites use PHP?
If not, Xara is not bothered.

I think I am on PHP 7.1 already.
