In my opinion, when we look at things that our sight can see easily (what I mean is that your eyes don't have to travel far to see the whole thing) we tend to look at the top half of that thing.
And, if there are words in the image, then I think we tend to read those first (or very quickly). Even if the words are in a foreign language.

But, I'm no psychologist, so don't take my view as any sort of authority!
