As with previous minimalist efforts here is my go at 2001. It was difficult because there are quite a few good ideas on this thread already and I didn't want steal someone else's idea or copy it.

Nevertheless I have tried to reference the main protagonist as noted previously and what he has an effect on? Not sure it works but I tried!
