Default applying a gradient transparency to bevelled text

I recently saw this thread in the Photoshop forum about applying a gradient transparency to text that had a bevel applied to it.
I’m not proficient in Photoshop and the solution went over my head. Not the fault of Rod, who supplied a satisfactory solution,
but the non-intuitive methods that Photoshop employs.
I thought that there would be no problem in Xara Xtreme, but on applying a linear transparency to bevelled text only applies
the transparency to the text and not the bevel. The solution is to group the text and bevel before appling the transparency.
    I never knew that before.
    Saludos,
    Bob.
