Draw objects for the cells, and an object for the outline of the wing.
Group the cell objects. Make a copy of the cell drawings.
Subtract the group from the main shape. This will give you the cell and matrix drawings. You can always get both drawings back from the matrix drawing.

Export to EPS and open the file in E3. For this complicated of a drawing, thew map fills will fail.

Apply a negative emboss to a Environment map. Set crop marks and save to bitmap (PNG).
