Shrinking a logo makes it pixelate?

There is a font that comes pretty close to the one used in the logo, Friz Quadrata. The As are different and the Ls. And some of the serifs are different. But to the untrained eye they are the same font. The designer may have used a font that was a version of Friz or he or she may have modified some of the characters.
