And here is a quick and dirty image based upon my previous post.

I exported both letters as a transparent PNG file.

Imported the two letters into Xtreme and sliced the file into two sections, the L and the G.

I overlapped the two letter forms.

I cloned the G, placed a small circle over the area where the two letters overlap, and used Combine Shapes > Intersect Shapes to mask just the area inside the circle.
