OK, I tried this at work... We have vmware workstation but you can get by with vmware-player which is free.
I dont have the time to write a real how-to but if you google for things I mention here you will get by. There are alot of how-to's out there about getting Windows installed on vmware. These are the steps I did:
Install vmware(-player, available in most bigger distros think theres a good thread about it on ubuntu forums)
Create a virtual machine inside vmware (if you're using vmware-player download one, its a small text-file, google it)
Install Windows on the virtual machine (I used XP)
Start newly installed Windows and install vmware-tools (a little complicated on vmware-player but not impossible, google it)
Download and install XaraXtreme demo. (worked perfectly for me)
Buy license for Xara. (we had one at work so I didnt have to do this)
Hope this is of some help to ppl who are having problems with Xara lately. I know this isnt the best solution, but it might be the best solution for now in case things get worse.
