upper and lower case text .. making it the same size and thickness?

Here is a logo I am making. There are three letters in a box. Two are uppercase and two are lower case. I am trying to get the letters to be the same size and thickness. The only way I have been able to accomplish this so far is to enlarge the lower case letters and give them a line with the same color as their background. This essentially gives the same look as far as the thickness but the letters themselves are not exactly the same size as the uppercase letters.

Does anyone know a better way of doing this? There are several other items I must create in this manner so a better solution than the way I am doing it now would be very helpfull.
