Uniform transparency around irregular shaped objects

Just an example I was studying. I used the contour tool to expand the shapes. Then convert to editable shapes and ungroup. Then select the group. In the ungrouped form, the transparency value is applied the same for each object, and the variation comes from the stacking of the objects. Rich
