I think you will find that there are, but you cannot see the gaps on the page in the links you post because the page background is 'masking' them

when I down load the image there are vertical gaps

but look - that has no bearing on the methodology - as long as the tile, is symmetric, it will tile

    Thank you, guys!
I'll read all the posts again and try to figure out what I should do!
I knew that snapping the base tiles could work but I was trying to use a feature that's built-in (the repeating pattern option).
I tried your tile again and it was clean without the edging.

You have to hold the CTRL while you move the handles to keep the ratio.
Doing this will make it almost impossible to make a seamless tile as you're changing the dpi.
Keep the dpi to the original dpi and set the larger square multiples of the original tile size.

Could I ask why you'd want a 20in x 20in seamless tile in the first place?

It could be another number like 8in x 8in, 12in x 12in, etc. I was just trying to create a large-size pattern that was seamless.
    The base tile that I had was 4in x 4in, and a 20in x 20in square would be an ideal size (4x5).

now I am fussy, in animation you have to be, maybe this does not matter to Ric and accepting this, it still tiles ok for me and for others....

Lines in patterns are an old bug that's been around for years. That's a distraction from my question.

The lines may be a bug or the quality of the base tile, but that's not what I'm asking here.
