Having Troubling Placing Transparent PNG Logo file in Xara Web Designer Pro

Download this file and save to your desktop. Drag from your desktop into WD. Does the transparency remain?

I just tried this (open the Zip folder and extract the png file to your desktop). When I tried uploading the PNG to this post, it lost its transparency when I dragged it off the browser onto the desktop. So that may be part of the problem.

Hi Jeff, try this:
Select your logo
Open Web Properties
Image Tab
Web Image Type, Select PNG.

If left to Let Xara Choose, it often exports as a jpg which of course has no Alpha channel

Egg - I believe the problem Jeff is having is transparent PNGs created in Photoshop are losing their transparency when he brings them into WD365.

Hello all - Hate to be the one with the 'dumb' question, but here it goes: While I'm fairly experience in web design and production, I'm new to Xara Web Designer Pro and am going nuts trying to figure out how to successfully place a Transparent PNG Logo file that I have previously created in Photoshop. There's nothing wrong with the png file; I've used it in other places before, no worries.

Yes, that crossed my mind too Gary. However unless he attaches his png logo it's a guessing game what his problem is being caused by.

Right, and at the very least, we can bring the PNG into Designer Pro and remove the background.

Though I think the solution might be to drag and drop the PNG from the desktop or Windows Explorer into Web Designer.

gwpriester - Hello, I promised to get back to you with a report on outcome -

I did resolve using your suggestions AND ... importantly ..... discovering that the PNG file I was using with transparency, while it worked in some other applications and programs, I discover was in CYMK and NOT - RGB color. Once I switch it in Photoshop to RGB, it opened fine in Xara Web Design Premium with transparency. (It did NOT show transparency with CYMK).

Jeff, many thanks for advising. It is good to know. So xara needs to improve its import filter to include CMYK PNGs with transparency.

I have the same problem with Xara Designer Pro 365. When I copy an image from Chrome (or any other program for that matter) and paste it into Xara - I get a black background with pngs that should otherwise be transparent. The only way around this is to save the image to my computer AND THEN drag the image into the Xara document.

This is not something any previous version of Xara did and I've been using it since 5. Super annoying as it I use this program professionally and it slows the process down when I can't just directly copy and paste. I have to do it daily and often.

I am facing the same issue @Younique
I would like to see this beautiful feature back in Xara, since downloading/importing all pictures just takes longer, when you could just have copy/pasted the image, as we were supposed to do before.

Please guys, can someone bring this to the developers or I should raise a case for enhancement for such requests?
