    Default Vinyl Wrapping

This is a site redesign for a sight which originally went live about 4 years back. It was time for an update to fully responsive. The client asked for a video in the hero area so we created one and added some music to it and timed some animated elements to sync with the music. Yes there is music on the site but it's subtle and suits the clients target market (think under 25s) There is a clear mute button for those who want to mute and though the video loops the sound is set to play once only and is set to initially play at 50% volume as well. Nearly all the elements (images, text etc) can be edited by the client and the gallery is linked to an album on the clients facebook page and is fully synced to show the latest photos at the top and load more if needed. The video will only play on desktop/laptops, replaced by a static image on mobiles.

The site was created in adobe muse. Comments are, as usual, welcome.

Wow, very impressive! Especially the 'opening' with the music and the video. I normally don't like music/sounds on websites but this one is really good. And very effective.

Thank you. To be honest I myself don't like music on sites and tried to find reasons not to use it but for the type of business this is it makes sense and as long as there's a mute button everyone is happy.

What makes the music and sounds effects on your site so interesting is that they are synced to the animated text elements. Haven't seen anything like it. Might be a new trent....

KLM has a nice online newsletter and they use music. It's more or less related to the contents but does not really sync with any animations: https://www.iflymagazine.com/en_ot/june-2016.

By the way, the background video loads instantly. How did you accomplish that? Is it compressed a lot, any degradation not being really visible because of the dark overlay?

My machine is on mute, so I've escaped the music.

The background video is very hard to see - very dark.

On the home page some definite mis-alignments. Not sure if the white line splitting some of the graphics is a mistake.

Boy, yes the video is compressed quite a lot, down from 49mb to around 5mb, that's why the dark overlay pattern is used, plus the dark video suits the site.

Thanks for pointing out the misalignment Paul, had some content set as fixed rather than responsive and that was throwing off the alignment. I have lightened the video slightly but the main attraction needs to be the text, hence the dark video.

Thanks for the explanation. There is no sound and the volume indicator is on max now.

Still looking into why that has happened, it was working fine but seems to have stopped suddenly.

wrong - for all I know we are rare, but there are those of us who are already listeneing to music on the computer and are always irritated by such a site; if we happen to be recording the music, more than irritated

why do sites always presume they are the sole focus of what the visitor is doing

I really don't want to get into reasons to have music on some sites and not on others but it works fine on this one. I usually don't like autoplay music either but as the music in this case is tied into the rest of the hero area it enhances what is there. Like you said yourself it is rare; a site cannot cater for everyone out there, the goal is to reach out to and provide a nice user experience to the majority, can't give the majority a mediocre experience to please the minority.
