My dad started building an airplane with a radiator mounted in front of the pilot. It was a slow process, and he lost interest after about twenty years and sold it. I remember sleeping on torpedos. It was hot in the boat, and they were cool.

That's a long project, 20 years. Do you remember what type of aircraft it was? Sleeping on a torpedo, that's funny Rich.
Pietenpol Air Camper Very funny that I remembered the name. Torpedos were until one got loose.

Bit of a let down this one Gray.....AS IF!!!!
Stunning, as usual. My question for this piece is the Roundels. Specific design for an Air Force, or work in progress?
Thanks BR. The red and white roundels were used by the Royal Naval Air Service (R.N.A.S.) coastal command before they were merged with the airforce at the end of the first world war. This Short dates to about 1914.
You are an absolute fountain of information Gray!
Fantastic illustration, Gray. Very crisp and clean.
