Hello, Lets say I have vector and bitmat composition and I like to output everything to a gray scale? Any ideas? Or simply turn everything to grayscale onscreen and continue working. Remember bitmap and vector together in one place.
Thank you

Export the image as bitmap graphic and open it in a bitmap graphics editor, like Adobe Photoshop or a Freeware tool like Irfanview and convert the bitmap into a B&W image.

Thank you remi but I already done that, I wanted to know if it can be done in xrax?
Ok, it's easy to convert bitmap images to B&W images within Xara Xtreme:
- Tutorial "Creating a Duotone Photo"
- Tutorial "Creating an old photograph"
- and if you already has a B&W image: "Enhancing Black & White Photos"
To convert your vectors:
- Export the image as bitmap.
- Convert the image to B&W with a bitmap graphic editor.
- Import the converted B&W image in Xara Xtreme.
- Open the color editor and use the Color Picker (the tweezers icon in the color editor) to recolor your vectors by hand.
Regards,
Remi
In addition to what Reme has suggested, you can:
Create a Bitmap Copy.
With the bitmap selected left click on the white swatch in the color palette.
You now have a grayscale image.
One disclaimer: Even though the image is truly a grayscale image (0% saturation) it is technically still an RGB image. If you absolutely have to have a grayscale image, you will need to do this in a bitmap editing application.

If you have Xara X it can be done from the utilities but was lost from sofware when X1 was introduced. Other way when using Xtreme is to dowload "Flaming Pear" ffree plugins and there is one there also "Little Ink Pot" has Photo Grey but I think you have to pay for that, doing it through Live Effect.
Design is thinking made visual.
Gary what about vector graphics that were done in color and are mixed with bitmaps in the design?
Hi there,
I don't know if this is what you had in mind or not but someone gave this tip quite some time ago.
1. Create a BLACK colored Xara object (rectangle for example) over top of your artwork.
2. Click the object you just created.
3. Select the transparency tool and set the transparency type to SATURATION and you will get the effect that I think you are trying to get. (see attached image)
You can mask over the entire drawing and have everything grayscale or do just part of the drawing for an interesting effect.
I hope this helps.
