I recently finished a photo retouch job I was doing on some very badly damaged photographs. There was mold and water damage, fading, you name it. Although I do use Photoshop 7 I found that because of the bump maps available in Ulead PhotoImpact 8, I could render completely believable socks and shoes. I actually had to apply some blur to make it match the focus of the surrounding image. Although the bump map are not rotatable to the angle I actually needed for the sock texture, my duplicating my vector shape and rotating it into the angle required for the sock texture, I could then render it to a raster layer and rotate it back into the correct position on my photo. It worked far better than any other tools even in more expensive programs.

Every day's a new day, "draw" on what you've learned.
