The lower bird is in the source image I used. They are all the same bird from different pictures. It was just flying from place to place while Kai and I were looking for shells. I cropped the images to get just the bird to reduce the overall image size, and made clipviews. We found several barnacles that had very nice shapes. I scanned these instead of photographing them due to limited sun light. From the pounding on the roof, there won't be any sun today. Of course, the house was shaking from intense thunder and lighting earlier. The 50 KT winds aren't helping either. I scanned each barnacle in several views. We found three fairly large ones and a snail shell. Oh. And a pice of abalone shell with barnacles. Rich

I notice that most of your object images that you create are very tight, almost perfect like they were snatched from their surroundings and placed against a screen. It's very exact work and I am curious if you do this all in Xara, and if so are you using the freehand tool and the slice command to achieve this or what?? I really appreciate work like this and would love a run down of the technique you use to achieve this exactness with!!

Great tool. I only cropped the images to the bird in an image editor. I drew points around the image as best possible. When it was an object, I gave it transparency, and edited the shape with the tool again. I just move points and adjust the control handles until the shape fits. I like being able to see through the object to reshape the object. When I need a void in the object, I draw another object and use the join function. Once the object is complete, I make a clip view and add some feathering. Nothing difficult. Rich
