How difficult would it be for Xara to create a freeware program that allowed printing of native Xara files?

It seems the biggest problem Xara has in dealing with print bureaus is the fact that the native xara file must be converted to something else before it can be printed, because most print bureaus don't have Xara.

If Xara made available a free download version of X that allowed printing, but not editing, it would make life a lot easier for many of us.

It might also spur more sales of X.

Just a thought. I would have added this to the consolidated feature wish list, but that thread is getting ridiculously long.

This marvel already exists: You might try 'PrintFile'. I'll check the link tomorrow. This tiny helper allows you to print to a PostScript printer offline, take the file to the service bureau where it will printed via PrintFile to the connected RIP. It's simple, it's free.

Print bureaus must be check many print and design option for be sure in order that file 100% ready fo print.

How they can check unknown print file from XaraX?
How they change crop marks, overprint, font-embedding, cmyk colors, spot colors, and other?

    That big question without answer.

with Printfile you can print it if you've set up everything. On the other hand you can print to an offline printer as an eps or use the Xara X export. It's nothing wrong with it - just check it with GhostScript and you'll see the result.

Or you can open the *.prn file with Ghostscript and check it, then save it as an *.eps file for printing or importing.

    Go, Xara X, go!

PrintFile/XaraX and Export/EPS form XaraX - all there ways go to solid brick wall named "EPS level2".

Sheffield Abella ask about free version XaraX for print bureaus. (For redraw, remake colors, set crops xar-files and export to EPS again - if needed)

Im worked in print bureau some years ago, and say: "95% incoming files be wrong". Incoming source files get a good chance fix troubles fast.

Second remark - print bureaus not print your files to paper 1:1. They use layout & inposing programs and import your files as eps.

ps. eps 3016 export can sove all that troubles.
