I use UBB for a non-commercial site and have had nothing but good experience with it. Lots of add-ons by a rabidly supportive crowd!

have you tried both opentopic and the straight ubb? would you recommend one over the other?

Hi Chuck ...

I haven't used Open Topic as an administrator, only as a user of this board.

I believe, (but don't quote me on this!) that OpenTopic is a service provided by InfoPop that is administered by them while UBB is for the do-it-yourselfer.

I've used UBB extensively, as both user and administrator and have been completely satisfied. Very customizable, though you need a working knowledge of cgi/perl scripting. The support, however, is incredible - a wonderful community that has advice, troubleshooting and add-ons to offer.
