Please excuse me if my question has been asked a million times before, but I couldn't find the answer in the old posts. Is it possible to export to avi format completely transparent, like with animated gifs?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Xara 3D4 has an export to .avi filter. If it's possible to export a transparent .avi I don't think so. I dont think .avi's support transparent backgrounds do they? It's not a file type I use very often.
As a work round you could always import the required background of you target file as the background.

Thanks for the info Egg, very much appreciated. Maybe I should rephrase my question. As a novice user I risk of saying something stupid but I will do so anyway

You know these programs that alert you soon as you receive new e-mail? Suppose I want to see my favorite artist's name, in 3D, freely rotating 360 degrees as soon new mail gets in. I assume most of these programs use AVI files. Can Xara create such rotating 3D objects or am I fishing in the wrong pond?

Again, thanks for helping out.

Regards,

Paul

This is not possible with AVIs - the format does not support transparent backgrounds. If you want transparency, you have to use Animated GIFs.
