Yup, I'm back. Several weeks ago I promised to post something I have done with Cinema 4D XL v 7. It's really a fantastic app! Only drawback is my slooow machine.

Therefore no radiosity this time, just a movie. Two years ago I've developed a 3D knot - spectacular at that time.

This time I've improved the knot, utilizing the new features.

    Check it out here:

    Knot Animation

Hint: it's packed in a self extracting archive, so you must download it. Just double click it, and you will get an AVI.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

    Hey Jay---

This is exactly what this forum needs more of.

I'm linking out an animation here that is of a candle and flame.

Here's how I did it: The flame is actually an object that has particle properties and is dying and regenerating every frame. It also rises up, this was done purely as an animation step, because flames rise, the wick burns out, and the flame regenerates in real life. The wobble, which was important, was done by displacing each particle flame as it came to life.

Finally, the walls are illuminated by lights (obviously not the candle), and they flicker, 'cause I goofed with the timeline of the flames to go off and on at certain intervals.

    Let's share more animations!

I went through a lot of bother to get a cactus plant modeled, and afterwards, I figured, "Hey, why not animate it?"

So instead of just doing a model rotation, I rotated the camera instead.

This is not "high art", and the way I got it down in size was to render single frames and then drop out every 13 of 15 frames, and then I compiled it.

    Gotta contribute SOMETHING !

    Gary,

    thanks for your candle and the cactus - they are fantastic. However, the cactus spins a bit too fast ;-}

Anyway, I wish I had a faster machine to render my animations...I have three in the pipeline, but my daily routine requires that I assign all cpu power to the tasks, so at this moment there is no way to finish and post my stuff...

Gary, sorry, but the spinning is only fast in Opera, my standard browser. I just dl the animation - and yes, outside Opera it's smooth!
