Illusion of movement

Hi Everybody,

I'm trying to give this graphic an apperance of movement.
It's supposed to be a vortex that sucks things from the outer edges into the middle. It
is made of a bunch of cencentric circles with "binary" text fixed to their curve.
I suppose I could make a series of image copies, each with a minor adjustment to the character
position on the curve but that would be a massive animation file.

How can I give each concentric circle an illusion of spinning? I can copy that with each curve
on the one image.

traditionally you would do that the same way christmas lights do - switching on/off in sequence [not moving]

Following this one Paul. I’m working on a font that gives the illusion of SPEED. Not there yet but it looks like you’re almost there.
What if you added a bit of shadow to the rings closest to the centre?

That was what I was thinking too.

Also tried shifting the numbers around by one or two digits which resulted in a curious optical illusion where lines seem to appear spiralling towards the centre, but when you actually go to look for them they are not there!

nice jono - if you look directly at the 00 you see no line, it is only seen by the peripheral vision, not the central vision, as the brain interprets them differently - the central vision for seeing what is there, the peripheral vision approximates - this is one explanation why people see 'ghosts' fleetingly...

I was thinking of the most lightest shadow you could get, but it still grows darker toward the center, and it gradually defeats the purpose. I wonder if any skewing would work. Tough to say.

it will spin [you have to click on it here] - stutters a bit as it's only full-frame for an eighth of a revolution, which is no problem to fix, just repetitive....

Wow, really like the animations.

I wonder if any skewing would work. Tough to say.

Is this what you meant by skewing (copied internet image below), if so again I was thinking the same but don't have time to try this out. Might be tricky to animate though.
