Default Fill Gallery Search and Delete functions

I have dozens of custom folders in the Fill Gallery with hundreds of images. But there is no way to search for a specific named image. There should be.

Also, many of the images are no longer useful and I would like to select and delete images in the Fill Gallery. Yes, I know, I can try to figure our where these files are and then go into the folder and select and delete them, then go back to the Fill Gallery and update the folder. But I would rather do it all in one place.

Features such as the Fill Gallery should be evaluated and updated from time to time. Yes?

Not much interest in this topic I guess.

Gary, I would not support such a function as I would not like a Xara application to have the ability to delete anything on my system.

Instead, I use Everything to visualise my Fills. It does means that the image is controlled through the Bitmap Gallery instead.

Not clear on what you are referring to when you say Everything.

And I was not implying it should delete anything on my system. Just the ability to weed out images that I no longer want to work with.

There are so many things that IMO would make the Fill Gallery more useful. Aside from search and edit, the thumbnails are too small. Thumbnails that enlarged as you moused over would be a huge help. Same with the Pixabay stock photos in the Insert menu. It's very difficult to tell anything from a thumbnail that small.

totally agree about the thumbnails gary, none of them are of much use on a high res monitor AFAIK see

I don't think your delete suggestion is any different in principle to deleting bitmaps in the bitmap gallery, just like to be able to do the equivalent operation in the fill gallery ?

@Gary, Everything is a file finder application that does very large thumbs making it easy to use for Fills. It is lightning fast.

@handrawn, a Bitmap Gallery delete removes an image from memory. A Fill Gallery delete would have to delete from storage or set a flag for every image. The read time for large galleries and folders would be prohibitive.

I knew that doh - but lots of other programs allow you to manipulate disk, heck you can do it in xara if you open 'save as' and then start deleteing entries in the dialog list.... which I have been know to do 'cos it's quick [not a recommendation]

read time would be variable depending on the power/resource avaiable on the device, true

That is true but only because Xara is exposing a Windows function. Allowing a Xara capability is double jeopardy.

Everything is a great solution. Thanks for that. But once again, this is a function I would like to see in Xara.

getting up in the morning is the jeopardy - it gets worse from thence on by a variable factor, depending on your luck.... or skill

because: everything is easy... when you know how; it is the getting to know how that is the difficult bit

on the one hand I appreciate that xara is aimed at those who would prefer to avoid that difficulty, but it can be a great inconvenience to others...
