Default Fit text around the outside of an oval, but remain centered

    Hi Everybody,

I want to place this text
    Name: text.jpg
Views: 167
Size: 3.3 KB

around the outside of this oval
    Name: oval.jpg
Views: 158
Size: 3.7 KB

but keep the text centered on the bottom of the oval.

Love to include an example of that but "gasp" I can't
    Many Thanks,
    -Paul-
If I wasn't so stupid, I wouldn't have to be so persistent.

    Paul, here is one approach.

Check the perimeter of the Ellipse if you have a Pro version.
Make the length of the text column the same.
    Centre the text.
Select Text and Ellipse and Fit text to curve.
Add in a negative Baseline Shift the height of the font size.
If the text is inverted, switch to the Shape Tool, F4, and click on the Reverse Path icon.

Hopefully enough to give you ideas.

    Thanks Acorn,

I'm using Xara Web Designer Pro (19.0.1.65946)
I don't have the tools you refer to.

It seems that once I have selected the "Fit Text to Curve" option, both of the objects behave as a
single group and I can not selectively move just the text.

Well, I am persistent anyway. Thanks anyway Acorn, you always come through with suggestions.
    Many Thanks,

Sorry Paul but everything that I mentioned is there in your product.

OK, How can I adjust the negative Baseline. I don't know what that could be?

    Thanks

Paul, I try and capitalise Xara terms so you may use the Help to search for them.

The Help describes the functions available for the Text tool and includes Baseline Shift.
What it does is moves the letters up or down relative to their normal position.

Here is everything together: Text Fiddling.xar
