Designer Pro+ - Update problem

I've even uninstalled and reinstalled XDP+ and it still does not update.

Says to re-install.
Well, I did shout at the screen that I've done that!

Downloaded the install file from xara.com

The installed version is: Xara Designer Pro+ 24.4.1.70368 SL x64 Oct 15 2024

Is that up to date, as everyone else's?

Rik, in view of the 2 others that are reporting the update is being flagged by their Anti-Virus programs, do you have a third-party AV installed? If so, have a look in the AVs log to see if TrueUpdateClient.exe hasn't been eaten by it.

Strange that you should mention this.

I think the anti-virus programme is what's causing the problem. And the initial problem was happening on my Windows 11 PC

Guess what?
I started my Laptop this morning and couldn't start XDP+
The .exe file of Xara had been deleted.
This has never happened been done by my anti-virus programme before?

So, I've uninstalled the anti-virus completely and then re-installed Xara on my Laptop.

I don't know what others think, but I will not be re-installing the anti-virus.

IF you it would normally be a matter of telling the AV to bring it back and to flag the EXE as safe.

Removing your AV and also running as Admin is really not safe.
At least ensure MS Windows Defender is active.

have to second that, in fact i would leave the 'really' out

no way would I run in admin by default without a third party AV/Firewall of repute; FWIW I use eset smart security which is not free

I hear what you say, completely.

MS Defender is fully active.

My son is pretty high up in the IT sector.
I don't claim that he's the world's expert, but he has not used any type of anti-virus for a long, long time.
In fact, when I (He) had to re-install Windows 11 onto my Laptop, I've not used any anti-virus on that, since then.

And it's the PC with the anti-virus, that started to give me problems.

I can see that everyone is advising me to use anti-virus, and I take all that on-board.

and to be honest it is the windows firewall that I most dislike, not defender
