Learned something new. Isn't nature marvellous. We've got three or four oak trees down our road. I'm going to watch them closely. I've been meaning to plant some of their acorns, bring them on a bit and do some dispersion myself!

Well, you have to not only plant it, but also photograph it all. A task for years, right?

When we lived in California we lived under some giant old oak trees. One season, when as this video shows, we had an abundance of acorns, a lot of them dropping and quickly seeding on the gravel and tar roof.

If was a mess. I had to go onto the roof and pull each and every sprout. In the high desert of New Mexico, the Juniper and the Pinon Pines don't get much above ten feet in height. Not even a leaf on our roof.

Looking at the oak trees down our road I don't think this year is a bumper year, unless the squirrels have been busy!

Years ago (2006) I did do an 'art' project where I photographed a tree over the course of a year. Below are a couple of the resulting images made by overlaying a months worth of tree photos into one pic. These are the ones for May and Dec.
