    Default FLZ upload confusion

I'm stuck (again). I have a domain northeastanglicans.ca - this domain is sub divided between two churches. All Saints Anglican, and St Matthews church.

I'm confused as to where to find the public_html folder in each of these sub domains; and where exactly to copy those files. I can only see one public_html file in Northeastanglicans.ca

Pic one is publish settings for one of these sites, and the flz screen shot of the hierarchy. Turns out the upload has ended up at Northeastanglicans.ca - and it should be All Saits.

What on earth have I done wrong.

Hi Bill, on most servers the default root directory is "public_html". You appear to have a few sites published above the root. They all should be in sub-folders below public_html

For example the root to many of my web pages I post on here are on a sub-folder named 'tg' which point to

public_html/tg/reveal-animations so it would be parkeston.com/tg/reveal-animations etc

So your sub-directories should be in public_html/northeastanglians/ or public_html/allsaintsmelfort/ etc

Once you've got them working correctly, delete those above the public_html root directory.

Bill, if they are proper subdomains, I need to know their URLs.
I would expect https://allsaintsmelford.northeastanglicans.ca and https://stmatthewstisdale.northeastanglicans.ca/ from your listing.

If they are subfolders, the URLs would be like https://northeastanglicans.ca/allsaintsmelford/ and https://northeastanglicans.ca/stmatthewstisdale/.

In public_html/ folder you would have subfolders .public_html/allsaintsmelford/ and public_html/stmatthewstisdale/. These are where you put index.htm(l)...

AddOn Domains each have a unique URL.
    public_html/allsaintsmelford.ca/ and public_html/stmatthewstisdale.ca/ with URLs https://allsaintsmelford.ca/ and https://stmatthewstisdale.ca/.

    Effectively, all within public_html/.

I know exactly how you're feeling. The penny hasn't dropped for you yet...it will, keep going.

In your case, you don't have a 'main' site, but 2 sub-sites. Neither of which should be exported to the public_html folder.

    Using FileZilla:
Export from Xara to a folder on your local hard drive. Name the folder all-saints (it can be anything, but avoid spaces and uppercase to keep it simple and tidy.) Repeat with your other sit and name the folder st-matthews.
Upload both folders, the whole folders, not the contents, the whole folders, into your public_html folder.

    Using Xara:
Change the Sub-Folder setting to public_html/all-saints, and, public_html/st-matthews respectively.

Make a landing page, with minimal text and 2 links to your respective churches. The links would be: https://northeastanglicans.ca/all-saints and https://northeastanglicans.ca/st-matthews.
Upload the landing page to your main northeastanglicans/public_html folder.

A living, breathing example is https://auzlink.net.au/ All the links point to sub-sites. They look like single pages, but they are all in separate folders (see FZ pic).

This isn't the only way to do it, just my preferred method.

Egg, I would suggest the stmathewstisdale.ca indicates an AddOn domain.
It will probably work but will confuse more if later on you switch from SubFolders/SubDomains to AddOn Domains.

Yes agree Acorn, I was just doing cut and pasting and didn't spot the .ca bit.

Are you looking at the FZ pic? I presumed the folders with (what appears to be domain names) were simply named that. Is that how AddOn domains work??? I've never used them, but didn't think they were simply dumped in the public_html folder.

Don't answer that, I've been caught in a rip and dragged way off topic. I apologise.
