just checking did you look in utilities/galleries ?

the names entry in the main utilities dropdown is something different



if it's not there, are you using a 'web designer' version of the program, they may not have a names gallery like the designer pro versions do

All, yes, I'm using Web Designer +.

As advised, I have nothing on the right and nothing in the Utilities>Galleries.

All I have is a Utilities>Names entry but as I said before, I get an error message:

that names function is for assigning 'names' [labels] to objects for manipulations such as in animation, not the same thing

web designer is a reduced set of tools [hence cheaper]

Acorn, I'd like to change my favicon but I can't find the Names gallery (as per your post above). I looked at Utilities and over on the right edge near the Page and Layer galleries; it just doesn't appear anywhere.
There is a "names" item on the Utilities menu but it says "no objects selected".
I have put an image on my home page and called it 'favicon" IAW with this, but the old one persists.
Any tips?

Vortilon, my answer to @juanmfk was based on him using XProXv16. You won't have this option of a Name gallery.

To be clear, 'favicon' is added through Utilities > Names or the Name Gallery, once added if you add another, the first one reigns.
So you need to select the first and in Utilities > Names, pick the Names applied (favicon) and press the Remove button.

No, you have to select the image that you applied 'favicon' to so you can then remove it.
All your image is showing is you have used that label in the past for that design, making it an Apply name option. That does not need to be removed or deleted.

Acorn, thanks, understood. I opened very Mouse off view and can't find it. I put another image on the home page, named it favicon, but no luck, the old one still appears. Until I work it out, I'll make my own ICO and put it in the files folder before the manual upload.

Does the fact that "favicon", "installation" and "saving/exporting your video" are still in that list mean they still exist somewhere, because I'm sure, at the very least, that I deleted the rectangle I named as "saving..." as part of the linking I tried.

Remember, browsers and MS Windows are dumb and work as programmers built and therefore not as you would expect.

If I keep Chrome/Edge/Vivaldi open after a favicon change, Ctrl+F5 does not cut it, you have to close the current browser session and re-open.
Test with a clean browser also helps restore sanity.

As I use the Export Website option more often than not, I get the opportunity to check the files generated.
Here, the favicon.ico seems unchanged until you right-click > Properties and immediately the change is shown.
The other way is to switch to large icons in MS Windows and this forces a refresh for both favicon.ico and tileicon.png.

Your idea of manually changing favicon.ico will not be effective wherever tileicon.png is used instead.

In your product, all I can suggest is to add the Name 'favicon' to any object.
Next, select this applied label and rename 'favicon' to '!'.
You can now pick the correct image/object/group and re-apply a fresh 'favicon', knowing now there is only one instance of it anywhere.
Never add 'favicon' to a repeating object, you might forget.

The unused labels remain as it is easier then to re-apply one previously entered.
There is no "housekeeping" or purge in your version.
If you were really troubled you could copy and paste fully opened Layers, a page at a time into a new design and the unused labels would copy across.

In Pro versions, use the Name gallery, right-click on the offending Name and pick Delete.

handrawn, it hasn't but @Vortilon is effectively chasing shadows.

I have no knowledge if there is a hidden original favicon still in the design. Renaming favicon to XYZ should zap that.
I don't know if the issue is on Preview, local Export or Publish or a mixture. Playing with browsers and properties helps.
I can but guess that changes on the server are not instant. Don't get it wrong, requiring a second chance.

I always assume favicons are set in treacle, not immutable, just hard to dislodge.
I try the favicon in a separate design and only when happy, copy into its resting place.
