Im trying to change my favicon but it keeps showing the previous favicon.

I have checked for the old file and im pretty sure its not there anymore.

I have done as per below instructions:

"Displaying your own icons in browser tabs: favicons
You may want to display your own customized icon, for example, a logo, on your site's page tabs when they are displayed in a web browser. Designer Pro allows you to do this by applying the name 'favicon' to your custom tab icon.
To create a 'favicon', draw or drag on to a web page the image that you want to use. The image can be any size as it will be scaled to the right size automatically when displayed in a browser.
Click it then click the Names button to the right of the SELECTOR TOOL InfoBar.
In the Names dialog, type 'favicon' into the APPLY NAMES box and click ADD then CLOSE.
Preview your website in your choice of web browser. The easiest way is to click one of the Preview icons and in the Xara Designer Pro X preview window, and then choose one of the web browsers in the top right of the preview window.
Your web page tab is displayed with the custom icon, as shown in the example below"

Force Refresh the page in the browser Ctrl + F5 and see it this works.

Make sure your old favicon is completely deleted. No copies any, no repeats and check your fills. I had the same problem until I scoured everything.

Not to sure how to check the fills, if you can explain please.

i have checked each element but i cant find it however when i upload the file is there. is there another way to search for the specific file?

juanmfk, welcome to TalkGraphics.

For you to have a Favicon, you will have added the special Name 'favicon' to one or more elements.

In the Page & Layer gallery, enable all Layers and make all Objects visible (two icons toggle, bottom right of the menu bar when in Layer view):

In the Names gallery, expand the Used names folder icon:

• Select the Used Name > favicon
• Click More > Select (or the left hand roundel so it becomes Red)

On the design page, your favicon element(s) will be Selected.

Either Delete these or open the Names dialog (https://helpandsupport.xara.com/xara...g_objects.html) and remove the 'favicon' entry.

When uploaded, you would be looking for the favicon.ico image file, which is in your published index_htm_files/ folder.

If the old one is still there, either you have not removed it from your design or your server is slow in clearing its cache.

Try publishing your design to a sub-folder and check that.
You could also Export Website, examine the generated files.
A final local check is to Preview in Firefox as it handles favicons locally, other browser may not. This is not a problem in XPro+.

Im trying to change my favicon but it keeps showing the previous favicon.

Please note that the current Firefox does not update a bookmark favicon once it has established one (a bug). Other browsers do. However, the tab should show the current favicon when you refresh your page.

Acorn, I'd like to change my favicon but I can't find the Names gallery (as per your post above). I looked at Utilities and over on the right edge near the Page and Layer galleries; it just doesn't appear anywhere.

There is a "names" item on the Utilities menu but it says "no objects selected".

I have put an image on my home page and called it 'favicon" IAW with this, but the old one persists.

Any tips?
