VR, XaReg25 does mostly work but unfortunately the new UI control points are different to the old-style ones and XaReg has not been uplifted for this change.

...sorry still in hurry... it should be possible to manually change the handle sizes in the registry under 'selection blob sizes' but you would need to be careful, I am relying on memory here....

I agree we will not be reverting to the old skin. I am now quite comfortable with the new monochrome one with the coloured highlights.

Affinity used fairly muted colours, making the old Colour Xara skin very garish.
I don't believe Affinity offers much UI styling:
Colour / Mono Toggle
Dark / Light Toggle

User Interface options
• Background Grey Level—controls the greyscale level of the pasteboard surrounding the document. [Xara uses any colour and transparency for its Pasteboard]
• Artboard Background Grey Level—controls the greyscale level of the pasteboard surrounding artboard(s) if you have an Affinity Designer 'artboard' document open. [ditto]
• Text Contrast—adjusts the luminance of text in the user interface. [Yes useful but you could probably use MS Windows settings directly]
• UI Brightness—adjusts the luminance of window backgrounds in the user interface. [ditto]
• UI Contrast—instantly sets Text Contrast and UI Brightness for high contrast between text and window backgrounds, or to their default values. [ditto]
• UI Style—displays the user interface in a dark or light style.


What I think you should be asking for is the means to create you own skins leaving Xara to develop other features.
