    Default unreadable file

I have a xara pgd file that won't open, it gives me an error message that the file is unreadable. I don't have a recent backup. Is there any way to recover such files?

If pdg is the extension, then it belongs to, and opens with, Broderbund's Print Shop Deluxe.

what's the point of your post - can you help?

Years ago there used to be a third-party tool that could help recover XAR files, but I'm not sure if it's still available or would even would work with the latest files (if that's what you've got). Might be worth searching the forum for more details.

    Jon, who knows.
Maybe you are thinking of ExpandXar.exe? It is a tool Xara created to unpack XAR files way back (2006).
It should still work. Read https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...-expandxar-exe. The zip link there still works.

The uncompressed file may then load, with broken bits bypassed, to allow a partial recovery.
Clearly Xara has more knowledge and skills around such recovery.

All the more reason never to rely on a single vulnerable file without some backup and recovery strategy in place.

Thanks for your clarification. It's also helpful to have some contextual information, for example which program/version/error message etc, otherwise you might sound like a spam bot or somebody upto some mischief! Oh wait, there's a secret hidden link in your last post. Grrr.
