Is it an eye, is it a tulip? But beautiful it is.
Actually, you shouldn't have ruined the magic. If it were me, I'd have said, "I work with a really great photographer and after I made a mockup of the kind of image I wanted, we gathered the funds and got a crew to at least get some of the parts to composite. I only used Xara to do a little blending in the end."
And if you said that I'd have totally bought it cause I am convinced. It seriously looks like some kind of photo that one would find in an old periodical of some sort, probably got paid very little for it, but still has an iconic look.
Also, keep in mind, I only see the preview you uploaded and I also have a stigmatism and i use a low res (for 2025!) monitor at 1200x900...so....if you wish to deflect my compliments, there's some technical reasons you can do so and I won't have to tell you lies about how much I actually thought it was a photo...else I wouldn't have said that.

I guess while I'm here, and technically this doesn't fit my thread of graffertisements since this is intended for print when it's actually finished....I was asked by my boss to do a 'new version' or rather he said, 'your version' of this cover because we're remastering it and doing some remixes of it...
THis was the original:
He did say "Your version" of this...so...since I'm in that graffertisement mode, I thought, let's do something super fun..because if you've never heard the original song, it's really fun. The bassline is bouncy, the vocals are extremely energetic and the drums are, well...i mean it's jungle, so they're obviously gonna be going crazy. It's just a really fun song is how i describe it when i listen to it, and so i thought like..well, i can't public trascribe what my boss said about the art requirements...but, the lion was a must..and i wanted fun...so i went to disney and used a screen capture of Lion King's Scar and used that as a basis of editing this lion on fire that is also firing lazers from his eyeballs! HOW FIRE IS THAT! And it's fun, i think..
Anyway...
That was the thought process. My boss also makes certain to remind me my graffiti is not always readable, but I took the graffertisement approach from the get go, thinking about where to insert the 'design element' in there for the normies who don't buy records based on artwork alone. :P
I'm aware of the copyright issues that are involved, but I'm also aware of the low distribution of the record when it's pressed and also aware of part of graffiti's point which is to sort of get noticed via notariety...which includes IP vandalism sometimes. I'm hoping I do enough 'satirical' elements to it to pass for fair use should lawyers get involved....I'm riding the line of 'I know better' and 'No officer, I swear, I didn't see the sign!'![]()

For no particular reason, still working on it, might not even get around to finishing it...
