    I could be totally wrong here bill - but is the favicon not labelled favicon in the program ?

    presumably then the label carries over to the copy, so all you need do would be un-label the copy ?

    Exactly as @handrawn mentioned. When you Name something, a copy keeps the Name. A favicon label is designed not to show the image when rendered, it is no longer there in the render.

    thanks - wasn't sure if it were a name as I understood it from animation, or another kind of name, or for that matter something else...

    but it is nice to be right once in a while
