Plus version 23.6 is Out

No formal notice from Xara but a Patch has just landed for the Plus desktop applications.

I set the top of page to v23.5.1 to indicate to @Xara that its online Help is yet to reflect v23.5.1 or v23.6.0 changes.

@Xara - it would be appreciated that when this is updated, you also offer up the download link to the Help files.
help-html.zip was last made available on 02 January; it really needs a dedicated link handling updates added to the Help files themselves.

One Bug that has been fixed it the mis-ordering of selected objects when moved in the stack (Back / Front).
I mention it as @handrawn has v20 Perpetual, which has the same Bug and its patching is fairly important to those purchasers.

In the latest wrinkle, I now have a product update on opening that advises "Update Alert: 23.6 Now Available!"
This is very useful before the event but surely not after I have updated?

I suspect Xara is no longer going to "announce" through TG. We must appear to it to be the tumbleweed in Backwater Alley of Forums Past.

Surely the Help > Check for Updates suffices? Probably not if Xara intends to hit us with adverts.
In that case the About Xara [Product] should display a link to the Release Notes for that version.
If it is added here, please make the version details copyable again.

I do not like tracking at the best of times but I find it rum that the journey Xara takes and the destination omit secure sockets protocol.
Instead, I would be the far happier if the "See What's New" link went to [https://helpandsupport.xara.com/xara...-update.html]; this and .../version-23/version-23-5-update.html have yet to be added to the on-line Help and the same Help to be updated to the new features.

When I go to the release notes page, my Bitdefender tells me it is a dangerous page because of the links on it. When I tell it to go there anyway, I get a 404 - Not found. Same for all the help and support pages.

And http instead of https?? Really Xara, you are out of money?

I use a VPN by the way, but that should not be a problem.

Xara Designer Pro+ 23.6.1.68538 SL x64 Feb 4 2024 just landed with no information on what changes there might be.

@Xara:

• Will you update the Release Notes to include v23.6.1 changes soon?
• Will you update the User Guide and Knowledge Base from v23.4 soon?
• Will you ever update the off-line KB links you provided, https://helpandsupport.xara.com/help-html.zip to download the zip file. (for German https://helpandsupport.xara.com/deu/help-html.zip)?
• Ds you not think a list of the ever-growing Web Block & Web Block 2.0 videos on YouTube should have their titles listed in the KB?

Just tried the update patch and get the following error. Xara remains 23.6.0 of January 17th NOT 23.6.1



UPDATE: Rebooted PC and tried again. No issue this time, updated to 23.6.1 4th February.

UPDATE: Rebooted PC and tried again. No issue this time, updated to 23.6.1 4th February.

That DLL is used by File Explorer to provide thumbnails of the contents of XAR files, so it may be necessary to close all instances of Xara programs. As the patcher does suggest (please close all applications). A device reboot might be required as well.
