Default How to add brightnes noise

    HI all,
for carpet printing i have to add noise, means some darker and some brighter pixel
    on a solid object.
my dream woud be a glass transparent layer mit some grey gauss noise, an tell xara
make the pixel with more than 50% gray darker
make the pixel wtith less than 50% gray brighter

any idea how to make this?

    thx

You can play around with this texture. I use this for some of my stereogram patterns to add noise/texture.

you can make noise patterns in xara

in fact xara has a live effect function for this, that works at least up to version 15.1

but in my designer pro version 19 it crashes and I don't know if live effects are present in pro+, they were not when it was launched....

Lightbulb Re: How to add brightnes noise

Reinhard, here is an SVG and CSS approach that allows the type of noise to be varied: SVG - Carpet Overlay Filter.xar.

    There is a lot happening:
    • The red box is an SVG filter with an ID to allow it to be used elsewhere.
    • The translucent box (overlay) has a ClassName (htmlclass-"noise") to turns anything into a noisy overlay. The CSS for this is in the Website Head.
    • In Xara, you can change the transparency.
    • In CSS, you can adjust the filter effect and include other filter actions.
    • In SVG, you can change the pitch and roughness of the noise.

For simple noise in Xara just use one or more Soft-Grouped overlays with Fractal Cloud Transparency at differing pitches, orientation and colours.

The SVG/CSS approach is effectively post-production so you could dynamically alter the values to create interesting animations, good for grass, probably not for carpets.
