Convert a rectangle to an <INPUT Type ...> box

Hi Everybody,

I want to explore adding a "Log In" to a website. It will probably be contained within a
PopUp box that I plan to sprinkle throughout the whole project. I've played with the
widgets offered but they aren't what I have in mind.

Is it a simple thing, to convert a rectangle to a user input box.



I can tinker with PHP and even Javascript, but I have to convert the rectangle to something
that can accept user input.

Any advice to continue?
