Hello:

I have a client to whom I take SEO (and he is very well positioned and is a very important client for me)) ..

I have to rename the Index (which is also very well positioned)
and I'm afraid of losing everything I've done...

How do you make a 404 file?
The typical one in which you tell google that the index.html no longer exists and to go to the new htm

Why do you need a 404 file?
You should include a redirection rule in your server-side .htaccess file to trap html addresses and which changes them to htm dynamically.

True, and your server provider organisers a default for you. OP was talking about a custom 404.
