Default Shadow tool - changing color

I have such a hard time changing the color of a shadow created using the shadow tool. Must be an easier way. Thanks.

Nancy, a Shape with a Shadow is put into a Shadow Group.

    1. Drag a Colour from the Colour Bar and drop onto the Shadow.
    or
    2. Ctrl+Click on the Shadow then click a Colour on the Colour Bar.
    or
    3. Open the Page & Layer Gallery, use Locate to click on the group then further click on the Shadow in the P&LG and then apply your Colour.
    or
    4. If (3) above you can also apply colour fills to the Shadow.

I either drag the shadow to make it comically large, or zoom in, then:
With the shadow tool selected, click the shadow itself and, using the colour wheel, eye dropper or dragging a colour from the palette at the bottom, choose the colour you want. The trick is to have the shadow tool selected.

You can then copy the graphic and 'Paste Attributes' to replicate on other objects in your project.

Thanks Acorn! Ctrl-click! I've been trying to click it, or right-click to make sure it is selected, then change the color. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. So then I tried the to make it over large, but getting it back to the exact size I wanted is cumbersome. No Idea why I didn't try from page and layer gallery. Never thought about trying color fills.
