Default Updating from xara designer pro x11 to x19

Hi folks. As the title suggests, I am planning a return to xara. Will I see many improvements from x11 which I have to x19 which I might buy?

I don't want cloud. I want one off purchase. Does this still give me access to content catalogue?

    Thanks for your feedback...

Hi, if you upgrade to Xara v19 through our resell partner Magix then it will come with 1-year of update service. The update service includes support, access to the online content catalog, and access to use any software updates in that year (you will not own these updates).

Or you can try Designer Pro+...is a subscription model, and it is currently at v22.4 with 22.5 right around the corner. You will have access to a more robust content catalog (OCC) that is updated monthly, and direct support from Xara.

Here is a comparison chart for you.

Note that Designer Pro+ is not a Cloud product and it is not hosted in the Cloud. It is locally installed desktop software, and only requires the internet to activate, access the OCC, and check in to validate the software. But yes it is a subscription model. You are eligible for a 50% discount on the initial purchase. Contact is at www.xara.com/contact-us for more details.

Thank you for your reply. And for the online content catalogue available with designer pro x19, can that content be used in commercial work and on merchandise such as t-shirts and mugs?

one thing you should do is make full use of the trial period - coming from ver 11 you will notice a lot of changes to the UI and object handling, some of which are intuitive and some not so much... you should always be able to get help here

as one of the few [probably] who actually read EULAs I would say no restrictions, so yes you can, but that is from memory as I don't use the OCC much myself - Matt [MB365], being xara, is the one to give you the final word on that

meanwhile, once you have installed the trial, the licence [EULA] is in your program folder in both docx and txt formats; it is a bit of a read, not being written in plain english....

if you make websites, some of the widgets etc may be uneditable or stop working if your OCC has expired

Thank you very much for your feedback and location of the EULA - that was going to be my next question...

Are there more (Additional) OCC resources available, or is the listing folders in the program the full portfolio?

You can also make a back up copy of the content catalog so that after your year subscription expires and if you don't renew then you have the catalog on your machine.

Another feature that they incorporated is allowing access to Pixabay directly from the content catalog and easily bringing in items to your drawing.. However it is limited as compare if you went directly to the website through a browser and downloaded files.

Depending on how you use Xara will determine if it will be a big improvement or not. There have been a lot of improvements on the Web side that would make it worth while. On the vector side there has been some improvements but I do not feel nothing major.

I have Xara 19 not the plus version because I do not rent software for various reasons. I really like the improvements in the PDF handling. There has also been improvements in tables for use in layouts for web and print.

As mentioned above try the trial version and see what you think.

Thank you - pdf handling is important to me so thats great.

How do you make a backup of the Catalogue?

Also, I notice in help that there is an option to download "content controller and pan studio" - is there any info on this somewhere?

Here is a link to preview the OCC: https://downloadsv18.xara.com/web/catalog/index.html.

Xara seems to be changing how you can download content by removing the Download All option from the Local Designs gallery.
@All, if you still have this option - use it.
There is no alternative other than picking content item by item from the OCC.

The Control Controller is to top up the available fonts and the like that previously only came on a CD.
Treat Pan Studio as a freebie offer that stitches images together.

in my ver 19 I still have the download all option by right clicking each folder

if you have to do this item by item then it sounds to me like a good reason to look elsewhere....
