    Default A Book Dust-Cover

    Hi Everybody,

I'm fooling around with trying to draw a book dust-cover. I'm failing miserably.

Naturally, I've been trying to steal technique from the tutorials I find at http://site.xaraxone.com/archives/,
or any other tutorial, but I've yet to find anything that leads me to this sort of display:

If anyone knows of a tutorial that I can follow to understand how to do this, please provide a link I can follow.

    I would really appreciate it.
    Many Thanks,
    -Paul-

Paul, it depends on how realistic you want it.

My simplistic method: Xara - Bookcasing.xar

    Acorn
Acorn - installed Xara software: Cloud+/Pro+ and most others back through time (to CC's Artworks). Contact for technical remediation/consultancy for your web designs.
When we provide assistance, your responses are valuable as they benefit the community. TG Nuggets you might like. Report faults: Xara Cloud+/Pro+/Magix Legacy; Xara KB & Chat

also bear in mind that, because of the way human perception works, some fonts will not look 'right' skewed on a flat print/screen render in the way they would on a real 3 dimensional object...

    Thanks guys,

You did what I wanted to do, Acorn. I need to study the "Extrude Tool" description in the manual. Not sure why I need a copy though Acorn, from you description.
In any event, it looks like this is what I need to do.

    Thanks again,
    Many Thanks,
    -Paul-

If it were one of my tutorials, I would create a rectangle with the text centered in the rectangle.

Then I would use the Mould Tool with the Default Perspective Envelope and snap the image to the four corners of the cover.

Wow, you guys all seem to complicate things... software isn't everything in the art and or creativity world you know? When we were in school you had these things called pencil crayons... they really worked eh? Ya cut out a paper bag to shape, and drew what ever hit your fancy.
It might have escaped your attention, this forum is about Xara software products. The OP's question, if you took the time to read it, doubtful, referenced XaraXone tutorials, which I created for close to twenty years.

If you must bloviate to hear yourself talk, please do it in someone else's forum.

Here's my 'complicated' version. Used the same idea of using the Extrude tool as Acorn.
