Using Xara Designer Pro+ 22.0.0.64793 SL x64 Jul 20 2022
I've started getting an error, every time I start Xara for the first time, after starting my PC.
Error shown in the attached pic.
Any ideas please?
Anyone?

Do you use Malwarebytes? Gary had it highlight a suspicious file a few days ago - perhaps your PC has quarantined it.
Malwarebytes flagged that exe file and quarantined it on my computer and so I got that error message on start up. I removed the exe file from quarantine an everything is OK.
So, check your security software and see if that file has been denied access.
I reported this to Xara R&D

I've checked my Anti-Virus and TrueUpdateClient.exe has not been quarantined.
And, I've searched the Xara folder in Progeam Files and I cannot find that .exe file.
I wanted to find it so that I could tell my Anti-Virus that it's safe.
I did not get a warning from my Anti-Virus that it was about to delete that file, either.
So... where is it? Or have I been looking in the wrong place?

it might be a hidden file ?
I don't have that version of the program so I don't know

I've just installed on a spare PC. TrueUpdateClient.exe does indeed exist in the folder - C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro+
It isn't hidden, so I can only presume your AV has eaten it.
quite possible if the settings are delete rather than quarantine for whatever flagged it - got caught out that way myself ages ago

I don't think this has anything to do with my Anti-Virus.
I copied the 'TrueUpdateClient.exe' file from my Laptop to my PC.
As soon as I put the file on the desktop (downloaded from the e-mail I sent) the Anti-Virus should have immediately flagged up a warning or deleted it.
It didn't do either.
I've copied the file into the appropriate Xara folder and the Anti-Virus didn't delete or warn.
I started Xara and all seems well.
I will see what happens when I next start my PC and see if the original warning comes up again.
Interestingly, there's a 'TrueUpdateClient.dat' file on my PC in the Xara folder.
And that file doesn't exist on my Laptop.
Do you think a faulty update to V22 caused the problem?

it's an open question Rik - th AV may not flag it until it actually [tries to] do something the AV regards as suspicious/dangerous - just copying the file in dosn't necessarily do that
it might for example only do that when it is checking your system and updating the program [which presumably is what it does] - so first I would check your AV/Firewall settings and see if there is a way of making an exception for this file
