    Default PDF Font Import

Using PRO version 19, I have noticed since Xara Pro 18 that whenever I import a PDF file, the text comes in with PDF in front of the font name. Xara treats it as a different font than what is installed. Yesterday I had use a PDF editor because Xara keep messing up the fonts and substituting the wrong font.

For example if you have a PDF made with Times New Roman and import it into Xara the text is listed as PDF- Times New Roman.

I work with a lot of PDF files in Xara and this gets to be a problem when making edits and saving documents as new PDF's. Sometimes Xara will decide to substitute fonts when the real font is on the computer.

I have checked back on the earlier PRO versions and they did not add the PDF in front of the font name and had no problem recognizing the proper font.

I don't know if this is the same in Pro +. This should be a simple fix.

Ray, have you read the detail in https://helpandsupport.xara.com/xara...ext_import.htm

You should be asked and pick Replace font if you have the same fuller font.

It is not substituting, rather it is trying to preserve from the original.

    Thanks Acorn,

Ok not all of this has come over to PRO desktop yet. In my testing the text does not come into a new layer.

I did not know how the replace the font worked. I have seen replace the font in the past if you don't have that font installed at all. After reading the help that Acorn posted I can see where the replace the font comes into play. Based on this, I don't understand why I had so much trouble yesterday but it is straighten for now.

I still liked how it worked in the past better.
