    Default The Mobile Mystery

I am working on a long overdue mobile variant for Mary's art website. But the page was not centering in the cell browser.

I switched to outline view and selected all. The selection rectangle was twice the page width but there was nothing there.

    Or was there?

    You tell me.

    OK, there was something there.

I see a lot of vertical Guides but no page boundary.

The gradient gray-filled rectangle for the header is the width of the page.

    Not clipview.

You mean the dirty smudge 17 blue dashes down on the right.
    I'd call that a mote.

This mystery object appeared on all pages.

I selected all, then shift-clicked until I had one-by-one deselected all objects. Then I noticed in the top right corner of the selection rectangle, the world's smallest bounding box. It was an invisible pixel defining the top of the main variant. I deleted this repeating little bugger and everything now is groovy.

    Until the next catastrophe.

i don't know if it is more complicated for webpages...

I find tabbing through objects a good way to locate this kind of thing; if groups are nested they need to be examined internally; some times just paging down the gallery through every nested group in turn is necessary

Reminds me of the old joke about the kid in the back of the class who keeps raising his hand and shouting out a number. I had forgotten that old approach. Now I can should out the next number.
