    Default Popup audio player?

I have had a website on Wordpress the past 12 years called http://www.speakingofradio.com I would like to make a new one and use Xara Web Designer instead. The one thing I must have though since this website is strictly about radio and audio interviews is a popup audio player. Is that even possible with Xara Web Designer? Does someone have any instructions on how to do it? Here is a example of how I do it at speaking of radio .com Click image for larger version.

The short answer is yes. You can install anything in a pop up. Although taking a look at your site you might be well advised to use the separate page as you have done because you have a lot of interviews and bits.
But yes it can be done. You can install a very rudimentary player, or a more complex one.
Within your pop up you can install a very complex player. Check this thread. https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...ighlight=Audio

I simply did a search “audio” and many results come up.
If your completely new to the software you may want to acquaint yourself with some of the Xara features.

Oops. I’m thinking you want to build a audio player in Xara and transfer to Wordpress. You might be able to do that. Several may weigh in.

Thanks! Not really wanting to stay with Wordpress because that seems really complicated blending the two. My big issue besides the popup audio players is how am I going to transfer all that audio and text over to Xara without spending my life away doing it.

    Todd,

What you want to achieve is entirely possible with Xara and a small amount of additional code. A while back now Acorn and I helped develop an Audio Player Plugin: https://initiostar.co.uk/demo/Jukebox/

The current structure of your site has an 'interviews' page with what looks like individual pages for each of the 300 + interviews, where each individual page also opens a popup to the audio track (i.e. interview).

The Audio Player we developed could be extended to allow you to map, on 1-2-1 basis, each of your interviews. Not the finished demo, but here is an example: https://initiostar.co.uk/demo/AudioPage/

The style is simply one whereby you have an interview page that lists all the interviews; this could easily be your ABC list as is. Each link opens a page-within-the-page to save the visitor jumping back and forth. Each interview page has the audio track and any other information of your choice, but importantly, you are using a template for each interview page which makes any transition a bit easier.

Where you have a long list, some additional code needs to be added so that the interviewee page window scrolls to the top of the interview page.

A couple of other sites that have used the audio player concept are: https://www.waterwaysongs.info/ and http://www.jonphilibert.com/jukebox.htm

Give the ideas some further thought and come back if you want a copy of the demo.

I think @initiostar and @acorn have the answer. The graphics even match the era. I’m a novice when it comes to service providers, so my novice answer is this. You have all the audio uploaded. Could you inspect your folders and keep the audio folder then have your new design point to that audio? I have a site with a couple of audio cuts promoting an album; quite simple.
As a fan of radio I spent 50 years in a studio. As for your design I do like the way you have all cuts on a separate page, because you have descriptive text for each cut your telling a story.

Thank-you very much. I love this! Would it be possible to get a copy of the demo?

    Todd,

Here is the demo: Audio Embedded Page Player.xar

There is quite a lot going on, so best to explore all the links and the various placeholder codes. The design notes should help too.

The start point in your scenario would be to upload all your interviewee recordings into one folder (on your hosted server). From there you would replace my source in the code with yours e.g. https://domain_name/recordings_folder_name. You can test this works by using this string followed by /filename.mp3.

With a long list of links, it is desirable to ensure the 'interviewee' window comes into view when you click on its link; it now does in that the parent window scrolls to the top.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas to play with.

    Gary
