Default How can I stretch a rectangle with curvature?

    Hi again, everybody.

I have a fancied-up rectangle that will need to be copied but stretched on several pages. The bad news is that the curvature applied to the original shape is never duplicated on subsequent copies.

How can I preserve the shape through each copy? Can I do that?
    Many Thanks,
    -Paul-
If I wasn't so stupid, I wouldn't have to be so persistent.

How are you copying and stretching? Is this a live copy?

If you stretch by dragging the middle control handles to stretch the rectangle non-proportionately it will distort.

Best to create a new rectangle to the size needed then apply the curvature. Or stretch proportionally.

Have you tried to Quick Shape Tool with the Create Polygons and Curved Corner options selected?

Paul, hold down the Alt key before dragging the middle controls.
If you must, toggle on Smart Transform.

    Thanks Gary & Boy,

It looks like I need to think this over.
One of the things I wanted to do with that fancied-up rectangle was to apply fills and transparencies so that it looked as though the whole thing was made of jelly. (Highlights and all of that)
I think the curvature notion will have to go.

    Thanks again
    Paul

The stretch works as I understand for any number of rectangles, fills and transparencies, but not I believe if grouped or converted to editable shapes.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

    Back to the original ask.

A Rectangle will keep its curves when Alt-Dragged (or with Smart transform).
Smart Shape > Rectangle 2 has curvature controls.
Any editable shape can have its controls points multi-selected with the Shape Tool and moved or dragged, keeping the curvature.
